I have loved mushrooms since childhood, and I have also been a programmer for a long time. Combining these two hobbies, I wrote this website. Previously, I had two other mushroom identification sites, which I sold. Only one of them remains accessible today. My goal with the current site is to create an easy-to-use search and identification platform that works great both in the field and at home. I hope it brings joy to others.

Description
Cap: 5-15 (20) cm in diameter; initially convex, then becoming funnel-shaped, its margin infolded for a long time, later irregularly wavy; straw-colored, orange-ochre; surface slightly sticky when young, concentrically zoned, especially towards the finely powdery margin.

Edibility: Not edible.
Confusion: Similar to the not edible yellowdrop milkcap, Maire's milkcap, the edible saffron milkcap and the false saffron milkcap.
Note: insulsus means tasteless, "unsalted". lactarius comes from the word lacto - milk, and refers to the milky juice. The current name zonarius means zoned.
Species description: In 1838, Elias Magnus Fries placed it in the current genus. Previously, also Fries described it scientifically in 1821, at that time most cap-bearing gilled mushrooms were members of the agaricus genus.
